LIGHTNER VISIT

LIGHTNER VISIT

This was actually a really cool experience.

Natural history of the senses

NATURAL HISTORY OF THE SENSES

Touch is the title of this sculpture. It was started off using foam board to make all of the finger tip snapped layers. Then I used a Dremel in the wood shop to add the texture for the tactile effect.

ARTIST STATEMENT

This sculpture explores the idea of touch for us human beings. My presentation that I did on the Natural History of the Senses was about the touch chapter. I used foam board, a Dremel, spray-ain't, and hot glue in order to represent the tactile effect of touch for the viewer in this instance. I feel that this sculpture gives the viewer the opportunity to see the fingertip shape and then see the inside as almost a fingerprint for itself. This sculpture is significant because of how important touch is. Touch is more important than many people know.

INSPIRATION

This artist used a lot of small interesting details that I was inspired by.

MOMENTO

This is my moment piece. Made of clay and two different colored inks.

ARTIST STATEMENT

This sculpture represents a yearly tradition that my Father, Brother and I always had. We used to drive down to Lake Ida in south Florida to go on a fishing trip every year. Each time we went each one of us caught over 30 fish each. The fish that we were catching were called Peacock Bass. These fish are insanely beautiful. They have this vibrant red to yellow fade from top to bottom on the side of their bodies. It just made the fishing that much more exciting for us. The clay in this sculpture represents the boat that we were fishing on. As the ink represented the peacock bass that we were fishing for.

I was inspired by the smooth and clean work of this artist.

Visual Symbols

VISUAL SYMBOLS

The first sculpture to this collection is the one on the left side of the image. The visual symbol for this bust sculpture is a dollar sign on the top back of the mans head. Standing for the everlasting desire for a man to get money. The never ending chase and pursuit.

The second sculpture of this collection is the one of the right side of the image. The visual symbols for this figurative bust is the heart on the top back of his head swell as the little hearts aligned around it. This symbol of the heart on the bust is there to symbolize the ever lasting chase for love throughout life and all of the heartbreaks are the hearts surrounding it.

REFLECTION STATEMENT

So, the main point of both of these bust sculptures as a set is to bring attention to the topic of these two things the tall of us as humans strive for. Throughout all of our lives money and love are the two things that bring people together and tear them apart at the same thing. Aswell as it being the two main things that people set out to have in life. The dollar sign on the back of the mans head is there to symbolize the everlasting chase of money for all humans especially Americans. The Heart on the back of the head on the other bust symbolizes the chase of love itself and the little hearts around it symbolize the heartbreaks that you will endure throughout time.

Eleise Seigel
Eleise Siegel inspired me to be more abstract with this piece of art.

Melvinos art inspired me to be more fun and surreal while creating this piece.

I found this one to be cool because of the old style it has to it.

organic sculpture collection

ORGANIC SCULPTURE COLLECTION

This is the first sculpture out of three in the set. The set was based off of, repetition, focal point, and negative space. This first one was for repetition.

This was my second sculpture of the set. This was the negative space one. I used wire, wood, gel medium, and ink to complete this one.

Reflection statement

I enjoyed this project. There were a few times where I was stumped and could not find a way to be innovative enough, though I tried my hardest. It was cool to experience making three dimensional objects based off of three things like negative space, repetition, and focal point. It really makes you look at every object with a different perspective. All in all this was a good learning experience. One thing that I was able to learn from this project was that you have to be innovative with the materials at hand.

Cardboard replica

This was the finished product of my cardboard blender replica sculpture.

as you can see here are the in process pictures while making this.
There were multiple artists that caught my eye while doing this study. In particular this artist named Monami Ohno used cardboard in a real interesting manner to complete this replica.

The next artist that I felt inspired by to complete this project was one named Jennifer Collier. This is what her work looked like.

This artists work is really intricate and detailed. Looks as if it took a really long time to complete.

This 11 year old boy from Indonesia really inspired me to give this project some more attention than I thought about at first. The detail of his work is important.
